Well I looked around on the internet about the gospel of Judas. Here is what I came up with.
1-National Geographic is not a Christian organization
This is not a surprise but it explains a lot about how it was presented
2-The book does really exist
But the protocal for dealing with a found document was not used by National Geographic
3- It's not in the Bible because what it says is not what Christians believe
NG made a big deal of this, like there was some kind of conpiracy by the early church.
4-Things may not be as they seem
When other experts looked into this they think NG took plenty of liberties with translating and even just leaving stuff out
5- National Geographic sucks! Just kidding. I'm glad I looked into this. Not that it was eye opening but because it was a good way to spend some time. There is a book on the subject I might get and read. What's up with all the reading I'm doing?

NETFLIX---REALLY ?
We discovered the world of Netflix this past month. Only because I'm too cheap to pay for cable or a dish. I was going thru the shows and I came across a documentary called the gospel of Judas. It caught my eye because I never heard of it. So I watched it. I never thought netflix would lead me to, what I'm calling, an internet search for some answers.
I'm kind of leaning towards, theres a reason I never heard of it. And it seems there may have been a bunch of Gospels. One thing that was said early on in the show was---If not for Judas betraying Jesus, the crucifixion may never have happened. So I could tell allready the people doing the show could not believe Jesus knew everything going down.
They also talked about gnosticism. And they said gnostics believed that Jesus' death was a good thing. Well I'm not gnostic but I think Jesus' death was a good thing. Sure it sucked for Him, but the big picture says it's a good thing for us. It's way better that He rose from death but still.
I guess I found it interesting enough to look into. Not that my opinion will change but just to learn some stuff.

ABRAHAM-----ISAAC
There are plenty of stories in the Bible that are unbelievable. I don't mean I really don't believe them. More like I have a hard time.....I don't know how to put it. The story of Abraham and his only son Isaac has to be right at the top of the list. Abraham is old as dirt when they finally have a child. Then God tells him to kill his son. Sure it's called an offering but none the less, the boy is going to die. And he never even tries to bargain his way out of it. It's just....You want me to kill my son? Ok when? Tomorrow? OK. And not only kill him, but cut and pack wood for the alter and the fire.
And what the heck is Isaac thinking. Cool dad and I are going on a trip together. Oh we're going to do an offering to God ? Cool, ya wake me up early dad. How long was it till he figured out that he was going to be the lamb ? Ummm dad, didn't you forget something ? And even he doesn't try to bargain his way out. I'm overweight but I'm pretty sure I can out run my dad.
Well I guess it's not that I don't believe. It's that I don't have enough faith to be able to do something like that. I can't even do some of the little things He's been asking me to do.

SHUT UP AND FISH
I heard a great analogy on the radio today. Trust me, it sounded better than it will now. It was about progressing thru your faith. When you first start off on your journey it's like you are riding a bike alone. Then when you accept Jesus it's like you are riding a tandum bike. You have someone there helping you to pedal. Making it a little easier to get up the hills. There's someone to talk to on your travels. And as long as you're the one in the front seat, everything is fine. It's when you change seats and let Him do the steering that things get interesting. You're no longer going in a straight line. And you're not taking the easiest routes. You are just peddling, holding on, and following. I pray that I can change seats with Him some day. I can't wait to hear Him say--SHUT UP AND PEDAL

WAKING THE DEAD
Believe it or not I'm reading another John Eldredge book. He really does seem to stretch the words of the Bible. But all in all he does make some good points. I really can't disagree with his conclusions or how he goes about living. Or how he thinks Christians should live every day. But I just can't get over thinking it's more about the money he's making than it is about helping people. I don't know why I feel that way. And I'm sure I shouldn't be thinking that way but....

Heres the conversation I had with myself....Wow, he's pretty old to be doing that........I should stop and help him......I'll go home and change my clothes first-knowing damn well I wouldn't go back....I am such an assbag!!......I'm really starting to piss myself off !

FISHERS OF MEN
After not steelhead fishing for 1 1/2 years, because of a shoulder problem, I decided to go again. So I'm fishing, relaxing, enjoying the scenery, reflecting, praying. Ya, everything but catching fish. Then I had this thought. I know why Jesus chose fishermen to follow Him. The poor saps were probably like me. Not catching a thing when some guy comes by and says to follow him cause he has something new to fish for.
